“ From some point on, it was not easy for us to make art together.

As our own experiences grew, we became overly cautious, and as time went by, our individuality grew even stronger. So did increase our conflicts of opinion.

 

We did love each other obviously, nonetheless, we couldn’t be the counter person.

 

Our care for each other was not enough to make concessions, and so was not our heart big enough to be considerate. We didn’t want such narrow mind to get revealed.

 

We even spit out things, knowing it’s going to upset the other. I talked first and thought later.

 

It was never easy to create a work concurrently loving with the same weight. However, we agreed to begin tuning even with the smallest part, as if we were weighing a scale.

 

When one put in a spoonful of ‘consideration’ on one side, the other put in ‘respect’ on the other side. When our life suddenly felt overwhelming, we lifted it off together and bore it together.

 

It wasn’t until a few years later that we were finally able to make a work together. That is the reason why our work was delayed. ”
 

 

 

 

“ 우리는 언제부터인가 함께 작품을 만드는 일이 쉽지 않았습니다.

나름의 경험이 많아지면서 지나치게 신중해졌고 시간이 지날수록 각자의 개성도 강해졌습니다. 그만큼 의견의 충돌도 많아졌죠.

 

분명 서로 사랑하고 있었지만 같은 사람일 수는 없었습니다.

 

양보하기에는 배려가 부족했고, 배려하기에는 마음이 부족했습니다. 그 좁은 속을 들키기 싫었습니다.

 

속상할 걸 알면서도 말했습니다. 말을 먼저하고 생각을 늦게 했습니다.

 

같은 시기 같은 무게로 사랑해서 작품을 만들기란 결코 쉬운 일이 아니었습니다. 하지만 우리는 저울의 무게를 재듯 아주 작은 부분부터 맞추어보기로 합니다.

 

한 쪽이 ‘배려’를 한 스푼 넣으면 다른 한쪽에는 ‘존중’을 담았습니다. 문득 삶이 무겁게 느껴질 때에는 함께 덜어내고 같이 감당했습니다.

 

몇 년이 지나고 비로소 우리는 같이 작품을 만 들 수 있었습니다. 이것이 바로 <우리의 작품이 늦어진 이유>입니다. ”
